Upcycled Silk

At Akalroop, our weavers value the last strand of the silk and weave with zero waste philosophy. The multiple leftover of yarns of natural silk in different colours are woven and made into a new fabric. It’s an intricate process of warping and 4 paddle weaving yet the weavers remain committed to zero pre-consumer waste processes.

The left over yarns in pure silk, cotton, and linen are used in varied ways. The warping is done with pure tussah silk and on wefting others yarns were used. It’s a zero-waste weaving process.
